Think pink and everything saccharine comes to mind. Cupcakes, poufy dresses, strawberry ice-cream, and all things pretty. But as Reese Witherspoon showed us in Legally Blonde, this hue is so much more than its feminine stereotypes. For pink isn’t just pretty and men can (and should) wear it too. Pantone—the world’s foremost authority in colour trend agrees—has announced Rose Quartz, reminiscent of “a serene sunset, flushed cheek or budding flower,” as one of the trending colours of 2016. Though pink is already a major trend for autumn-winter 2015, you’re likely to see more if it next year. We spotted pink in the SS16 collections of Jason Wu, Gauri & Nainika, and Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini and in the ethnic designs of Shyamal & Bhumika and Sanjay Garg.
We picked up an array of mellow pinks from our favourite fashion and accessories brand. Fusion bandis from Bubber Couture add a understated splash of pink to menswear while rosy hues from our favourite high street brands cater to every style aesthetic. Don’t care for pink in your ensembles? Accessorize with dull pinks from Rubans and Allure. The key to aceing pink is simple really—stop thinking of it as frou frou. Instead, mix and match with other colours, update it with experimental textures and prints, and make room for dusty hues like rose quartz in your closet.
