At Lakmé Fashion Week, participating designers showcased the best of their festive collections with Bollywood’s hottest celebrity showstoppers sashaying down the runway. Malaika Arora
for Shantanu & Nikhil
Malaika Arora took the ramp in a curve-hugging cocktail gown by Shantanu & Nikhil. The cut-out gown in black and gold complemented her perfect-10 frame as much as her dusky skin. Not as heavy as other pieces in the collection, the gown is an ideal red carpet fit.
Kareena Kapoor-Khan
for Sabyasachi
Mommy-to-be Kareena Kapoor-Khan dazzled in Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s bejewelled grey lehenga set. Adorned with elaborate Kashmiri embroidery, the choli was a feast for the eyes. Mukherjee may well have chosen the garment keeping Kapoor’s eyes in mind, as the outfit lent extra sparkle to the glowing actor on stage.

Diya Mirza donned a black Kanchipuram saree embellished with silver zari for Tulsi Silks. Retaining a simple, traditional style to emphasise on the beauty of the handloom, the actor’s dignified demeanour allowed her garment’s singular design take the spotlight.

Bipasha Basu also gleamed in a desi ensemble, wearing a raw silk mekhla-chador for Sanjukta Dutta. Combining motifs from South India’s temples with silk threads from Assam, the design paid homage to the country’s rich textile heritage.
