THE PEAR
You have a Pear body when you have :
- Narrow shoulders
- Well defined waist
- Your lower body is wider than your upper body
- Full hips and thighs
- Rounded bottom
- Your best assets: Shoulders and torso
LEHENGA: You should go for something flowy and high waisted. As this will give an illusion of a taller and slender lower half. Stay away from mermaid style or anything that clings on your hips and thighs. A flared lehenga with detailed border will work best for you.
CHOLI: Show off your best feature in a design-rich blouse. You can sport any blouse which has heavy detailing. A wide neckline, such as boat, off shoulder, cape style will look best on you. You can also experiment with other necklines like collared, high neck, halter etc., as your top part is not that bulky hence you will look great with those sexy blouses.
DUPATTA: Keep your dupatta on one shoulder and let it flow down to give your body shape a vertical line. Just make sure that it should not end near your hip area.
THE APPLE
You have an Apple body when you have :
- Average to heavy bust
- Broad shoulders
- Fullness around the middle
- Undefined waist
- Your best feature: Slim legs
LEHENGA: An A-line lehenga works best for you. Go for heavy detailing at the bottom. Tailor made your lehenga with a thin or no waistband. Stay away from gathered waistline. You can go for kalidaar lehenga or shararas as these add heaviness at the bottom, giving proportion to your body.
CHOLI: If you love to show off, you can chose a bare back choli. This will also take away attention from the heavy bust and wide shoulders. V-necklines looks great on you. Go for longer cholis which will cover your concern area. You look best in empire cut blouses as it emphasizes the narrowest part of your body, which is your under bust. Steer clear of heavy embroidered fabric, as it will draw unnecessary attention towards your top half. You can opt for solid and glamorous fabrics like velvet, silk etc.
DUPATTA: You can use the dupatta to conceal any body part you want-if you are conscious of any of them. Otherwise you can carry it on one shoulder and let it flow vertically.
THE RECTANGLE:
You have a Rectangle body when you have :
- Small to average bust
- Undefined waist
- Straight hips and bottoms
- Not many curves
- Aligned shoulder and hips
LEHENGA: Add volume to the bottom by choosing a heavy flared lehenga. Go for stiffer fabrics like raw silk, brocade, net etc. Look for prints which gradually becomes bigger at the bottom. You can also add layers of net underneath your skirt to give it a fuller effect.
CHOLI: Try out deep plunging necklines to create an illusion of curves. Add structure to your top half with shoulder detailings or choli with cups.
DUPATTA: Stay away form stiff dupattas. Go for soft flowy materials with smaller prints. Drape it diagonally like a saree pallu and around your hips.
THE INVERTED TRIANGLE
You have an Inverted Triangle body when you have:
- Wide shoulders
- Big bust
- Undefined waist
- Narrow hips and buttocks
- Slender thighs
LEHENGA: Broaden your lower half by going for a full flared lehenga. Pick something which has a flowy and soft look. Stay away from tight fitted or mermaid style ones, as your slimmer hips will look disproportionate with the top part.
CHOLI: Go for open and wider necklines like round or sweetheart. Avoid closed neck and spaghetti straps as it will broaden your top half. Layering is a great option for you. So go for jacket style lehenga choli. Choose a soft and sheer jacket to layer over the choli.
DUPATTA: Drape your dupatta over your elbows is the best option, as it will draw attention to the bottom half of your body.
THE HOURGLASS
You have an Hourglass body when you have :
- Full bust
- Narrow and well defined waist
- Proportionately balanced shoulders and hips
- Rounded bottom
- Curvy body
LEHENGA: First of all congratulations! As this is considered to be the ideal figure. Most of the styles would suit your body. You can go for A-line or flared lehenga with heavy detailing at the bottom. Avoid stiff fabrics as it can hide your good features.
CHOLI: If you like to show off your curves, you can go for short cholis with flattering necklines. You can also sport a tube top or with thin spaghetti straps.
