Petite people are those who are under 5’4. Often referred to as short people, petite people find it a challenge to find flattering clothes. Most clothes available in the market drown petites. However, the trick is in knowing what to buy and how to style. Let us take a look at the Hollywood actress, Reese Witherspoon’s petite street style. For reference, she is a below under 5’2 and has a rectangle body shape. Rectangle body shape usually means that there is no defined waist and the hip and shoulders are similar in width. Please refer to this picture:
Reese Witherspoon is a 40 plus actress with a colourful and girly style. In the picture below, she is wearing a shirt dress which ends at the right place above the knee which visually elongates her legs. I also love how she has dressed up the casual outfit with the leopard print shoes. Kudos to her/ her stylist.
The red monochrome outfit visibly elongates her frame by not dividing or fragmenting her. Monochromes are a great way to appear taller and the southern belle has used the technique to her advantage.
In this casual attire, the mid-rise jeans adds to her length and the flare at the bottom adds dimension to her rectangle shape.
This look below of Witherspoon has not impressed me as much as because of the cap sleeves. As a stylist, I feel glass sleeves or fitted longer sleeves would have balanced her shoulder vis-à-vis her hips and given the appearance of a more feminine silhouette. What do you think?
The fit and flare is, in my opinion, one of the most flattering outlines for a petite rectangle shape. Fit and flare structure graphically narrows the waist by adding flare to the bottom, thereby creating a polished and feminine look. Here, the red fit and flare dress is minimising the waist and creating a more hourglass shape for the 40 plus actress.
What do you think of this her street style? Which style of hers would you most likely wear yourself. Let me know in the comments below.
