Our noses twitched curiously as we chanced upon The Perfume Library via its enticing website. We’ve always been fans of fragrances—nothing’s quite as luxurious as the hint of scent behind your ears—but this promised something more. Founded by Jahnvi Dameron Nandan, this “theatre of olfactive memories” endeavours to consolidate fragrances with collective memory and align their composition with visual arts. Whether it is Fire by Mary Greenwell, soaked in the scent of rose, incense, and oud; or the Corsica Furiosa, winner of the Best Niche Fragrance of the Year title at the renowned FiFi (Fragrance Foundation) Award, 2015, each perfume offers its own distinct narrative. The ingredients form their own cartographic tale, sourced from areas as close as Tamil Nadu or as distant as Siberia.
The curated collection boasts a gender-bending quality, each perfume designed to be worn by men and women. Ardent followers of their Instagram account, we were thrilled when The Perfume Library team put together a recommendation of scents based on personal style. Whether you’re choice of look is classic or grunge, there’s a perfume for every mood. Go on, take a whiff.l
