The Academy Awards of television, the Emmys are among the most highly-anticipated awards of the year. This year, Game of Thrones created a new awards record while Jimmy Kimmel served apples and PB&J to the star-studded guest list. The most stylish part of the show, however, was definitely the red carpet. A profusion of caped dresses, floral prints, and shades of yellow were spotted as guests arrived for the event. Among men, tuxedos and bow ties ruled the red carpet, a rare white or burgundy breaking the monotony of black and blue suits. Here are our favourite looks of the night.
Swirling in a custom-made Jason Wu gown, Priyanka Chopra made it to every best-dressed list of the night. Her presentation with Tom Hiddleston only made things better.
Speaking of Hiddleston, the British hottie looked dapper in his Gucci suit. Unsurprisingly, the appearance led to comments about a certain super spy role he’d be perfect for.

Wearing a voluminous Zuhair Murad gown, Kristen Bell showed us why florals are almost always a failsafe when it comes to make an impact on the red carpet.
Make some room…the Khaleesi has arrived! Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke made the oh-so-old nude gown looks fresh. She wore Versace to the red carpet.

Rami Malek, winner of the Best Actor (Drama) award for Mr. Robot, stood out in his white tuxedo tailored by Dior Homme. That’s a winner of a look too!
It’s in style when Cookie Lyon says so. Empire star Taraji P. Henson accessorized her eye-popping yellow gown with it girl accessories for an effortless red carpet statement.

Making a case for simplicity, Emmy Rossum wore a pristine white gown designed by Wes Gordon. The thigh high slit made sure the look wasn’t just a next door girl look.
We are used to see Kit Harrington enveloped in furs and dark garb. The Game of Thrones star’s choice of a Givenchy tux made all of us sit up and take notice.
Kerry Washington may have just taken maternity fashion to new heights. Flaunting her baby bump and natural curls, the Scandal star wore a cut-out Brandon Maxwell with élan.
Michelle Dockery’s unconventional red carpet style can go either ways. We are happy to say her ruffled black and white Oscar de la Renta was definitely a hit.

We love men who can look past the classic appeal of a black or navy suit. Case in point Trevor Jackson who picked a burgundy tux by Antony Franco.
The red carpet sparkled with sequinned dresses, but it wasn’t till the always stunning Robin Wright walked in wearing Reem Acra that we were really impressed.

The spectacular kids of Stranger Things shone on the red carpet with their age-appropriate ensembles and joie de vivre. Our favourite red carpet stars from the event!
