Books are best not judged by their covers, but when it comes to people first impressions can make a remarkable
difference. Our presence, from the way to dress to our gestures and body language, offers non-verbal cues to our personality. Celebrities or not, our personal style determines how we are perceived and at élanstreet’s first workshop, the spotlight was on enhancing this nuanced sensibility.
Titled The Power of Personal Appearance, the image makeover workshop for women, held on October 16, served as show the empowering ability of personal style and grooming. Miriam Korula, an internationally-certified image management consultant and trainer, hosted the intimate masterclass introducing participants to intelligent and practical style solutions.
From understanding your body type and personal colour to dressing creatively, Korula focused on tips that add a spark to everyday dressing without breaking the bank. Mallika Patil, a corporate trainer, found it enlightening to discover her body type and favourable colours. Theatre actor and facilitator Yeshaswini Channaiah came to the workshop weaing white. Korula helped her realise that it was in fact off-white that suited her warm skin tone better, “This workshop was an eye opener,” she said. Superna Shankar, an HR manager at a city corporate, signed up for an extensive styling service after the workshop.
The presence of stylists, fashion bloggers, and design faculty members in the audience elevated the conversation, adding depth to the interactive conversation about personal appearance. The Attic Gray, a multi-designer and bespoke fashion store, offered a perfect setting for the event. As founder and CEO Gargi Banerjee-Koul added the finishing touches to the workshop, guests moved on to browse the outfits on display and chat over refreshments. “I loved getting a chance to interact with a wonderful group of women, who came together to know more about what fits and flatters them the most,” said Korula.
With the workshop’s success, we are gearing up for more interactions with style influencers and enthusiasts. Stay tuned for updates!
