We all invest in our bridal clothes for that picture perfect wedding day. However, we feel bad to not be able to re-use our gorgeous sarees and lehengas in the future. Given the expensive cost and the exquisite designs of Indian bridal wear it seems a shame to let them hang in the cupboard after the wedding. While shopping for my bridal trousseau, we did have this debate of whether we should spend so much money on something that I am going to wear only once. Also I rarely wear ethnic clothes- I could count the number of times I have worn a saree in my lifetime. So the chances of me wearing my beautiful bridal sarees were quite rare anyway. Fortunately, I did have a slew of weddings for an entire month in January in Kolkata so I had the opportunity to re-utilise my wedding sarees and jewellery. The truth is that you do not have to wear your wedding and pre-wedding clothes only once. You can easily dress up and dress down your bridal collection.
I wore a traditional red Banarasi with heavy thread work for my Bengali wedding along with gold jewellery. See the picture below to see how I have dressed up and down my Bengali wedding saree.
These are the 2 other looks from my wedding:
I wore an ombre pink Kanjeevaaram for my south Indian wedding in the morning and a purple Banarasi Gota saree for my reception. I have pulled them off as a wedding guest this winter wedding season. Do you want to see how? Then message me here on Facebook or hang with us here.
If you have such similar sarees lying in your closet unused after your wedding, then you can book a session with D.I.Y Style at +91 9840713834 to know how to utilise it later.
