The alarm rings on as you lie in bed wrapped in your snug hoodie. How can one get off the bed and get to work when the misty winter holds such fine promises? We agree it’s a task! But since sweatshirts don’t quite fit office dress codes, we fall back on these failsafe ideas to nail our looks Monday to Friday. All while wearing our cosy winter essentials.
Bewitching Black and Camel
Camel is one of the hottest colours this season. Team it up with your staple blacks for an edgy look. Show you mean business with a black polo-necked T-shirt and cigarette pants layered with an oversized camel-hued jacket. Ankle-length boots will complete the maximal look.
Suit Up
Be it monochromes or bold checks, a suit is a power dresser’s must-have outfit. Add a chunky watch and Oxfords, and you’re in business. If not a suit, well-cut blazers too make for an assertive look. Pick your jackets in leather accents and tweed, in wintry colours like wine, pine green, grey, and the classic black or white. Pair it with trousers or pencil skirts and carry a satchel bag!
Sweater Dress Meet Turtleneck
Slip a sweater dress over a super-soft turtleneck in neutral hues, and black opaque tights for a look that spells easy elegance all day. Look for cowl necklines and shawl collars –paired with a Peter Pan-collared shirt, it’s a look that doesn’t get old. Add a pair of suede pumps and a nude handbag to complete the look.
Denim All The Way
Who says denim doesn’t make for work-appropriate ensembles? Your distressed jeans won’t do, but a denim (or chambray) shirt dress can strike gold at office on days when it’s chilly yet not quite cold. Throw in an oversized tartan scarf and a slim belt for a cinched waist—it’s a chic, laidback fashion statement to make at work.
Cover Story
There’s no winter without a fuzzy cover up. Cardigans are super versatile and a go-to winter item. Shawl-like ponchos are best for a casual Friday, making for an elegant drape over pencil skirts, dresses, and leggings. Opt for neutral hues, and ikat or tartan prints for an on-trend look.
As the winter chill begins to wane, we also recommend you use layering to create cosier looks with your regular separates. A wrap blouse with cigarette pants, high-waist skirt and tailored shirt, or the ultra glamorous suit paired with oversized scarf will brace you from the cold while elevating your 9-to-5 work wear game.
