As months pass by working from home and with little to no social gatherings, it gets difficult, as our wardrobes haven’t been replenished. With the guilt of an existing wardrobe full of clothes how does one keep up with trends? Slowly as things have started moving at its pace we’re all learning to embrace the new reality. So that also means look unto what next!
How does one replenish their wardrobe to look updated and not be worried about accumulating clothes that may go out of trend soon? Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this crisis, we’re all on the same page! We do not have places to go at the moment, but we still want to look smart for the work virtual meetings, there are little to no gatherings, but we still want to dress up for the at-home festive celebrations to keep the festive mood on!
Coming from a stylists perspective, shopping for clothes is not an essential at the moment, but if you’re open to let loose on the wallet a little, it can keep your wardrobe up-to-date. It’s been quite a while since work from home became a norm, so now is the time to shop for some essential pieces from this season. On virtual meetings, what you wear from waist up is all that matters. So look for chic blouses with pleated detailing, button down shirts in stripes, or cotton kurtas with minimal design. Your trendy pieces can easily be paired with comfortable culottes, athleisure pants, palazzo, boyfriend jeans or jegging that you already have in your wardrobe. The key is to mix the current trends with your existing classic bottoms. Complete it with earrings as it is closest to your visage and adds up to the look. Your next best option is a dress in a style you like, Midi dress, A-line, straight or snug fit, make sure it is not too flowy or it might come off as a casual look. Maintain the smart formal look opt for minimal prints or dark colours wear a sleek belt on waist if required. Below are a few of my favourite trending pieces from this season.
Zara Ruffled Jacquard Blouse
Urban Suburban Pinstriped Shirt
Nuon Checkered Shirt Dress
Shopping for festive celebrations can get tricky too as questions ponder will this go out of style by the time I wear it the next time? Relax figure out how many outfits depending on the number of occasions first. Go for timeless kurta designs like, Elegant silk, classy Chikankari embroidery, Jaipur hand block prints, Bandhani or Lehariya print, smart Patan Patola weave or Ikkat. It might seem like an investment right now but it’s worth it, these classic designs will never go out of style. Years down the lane these designs will still look in vogue. You can easily find a neutral coloured bottom in you wardrobe to pair it up with. Here are some of the designs I chose for you!
The Loom Chikankaari Suit
Kalki Cowl Dress with Bandhani Print
Jaypore Embroidered Chanderi Silk Kurta
Overall, I would say investing in some trendy pieces and mixing it with the key pieces from you wardrobe is a safe bet in order to keep your style updated!
